Thank you for exploring our highly selective University-wide honors program — the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø Scholars Program.
If you are invited to become a º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø Scholar, you will enjoy a range of special academic, social, and career development opportunities:
- President's Honors or All-University Honors upon graduation and completion of Scholars requirements (depending on GPA)
- Guaranteed choice of any major until March 10 of your first year, provided you meet the 3.25 GPA threshold
- Earlier course registration compared to non-Scholars of your class
- Scholars Award of $3,500 available to be used from the start of your second year until graduation for a high-impact educational experience such as education abroad, a summer or winter internship, mentored research, or advanced professional development
- Scholars social events throughout the year such as group hikes, picnics, dinners, sporting events, and day trips
- A peer mentoring program led by second-year Scholars
- Mentoring by top University officials and faculty
- A dedicated program staff to help you with academic advising and your transition to being a new college student
As important as all of the opportunities listed above, first-year Scholars live with one another in the Scholars Learning Community in Broome Hall of Newing College, one of the newest residential communities at º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø. This provides new Scholars with a place to live and learn with other Scholars as roommates, neighbors, and classmates. Non-Scholars also live in the Newing residential community, providing you with many opportunities to socialize and connect with Scholars and non-Scholars alike.
We all sincerely hope that º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø will be your college choice this fall and that the Scholars program will be central to that experience.
With best wishes,
Stephen R. Ortiz (Prof. Steve)
Executive Director, º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø Scholars Program
