Clinical Assistant Professor
Background
Karen Browne is a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Nursing at 海角乱伦社区's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
She joined Decker's nursing faculty in 2015, first as adjunct clinical staff, and then as a clinical instructor, lecturer and course coordinator before taking her current role. During her tenure, she developed (and continues to teach) an online wound care course for the undergraduate programs. This course enhances student studies in the holistic care of patients with various wound situations.
Browne's nursing background includes acute care medical-surgical nursing, community health, acute and long-term home care, hospice and palliative care case management. Her research interests are in the wound care field, where she helps develop emotional intelligence and enhances clinical reasoning skills in nursing students.
She holds a doctorate in nursing education from Liberty University and three nursing certifications in wound, ostomy and continence management, including being a certified wound ostomy continence nurse (CWOCN). Browne practices per diem in an acute care setting as a consultant for inpatient and clinic patient needs in these specialties.
