Providing feedback using B-Successful

Alerts and Kudos can be raised at anytime during the semester and is ideal for faculty who have individual concerns (or praise) about a student.  When you have a concern about a student, raise an alert to communicate it to both the student and appropriate staff members.

What happens when you raise an alert or kudo?

Alerts are categorized into different levels of severity; low, medium and high. The severity of the alert determines the response.

  • Low (Email ONLY) - These are the kudos. The student will receive an email, including any faculty comments.
  • Medium and High (Supportive Outreach) - The student will receive an email, including faculty comments. Academic Advising  or other student support offices will reach out to the student.

Please Note:

  • Students will receive a that includes your comments.
  • In some cases, students are encouraged to reach out to you for additional information about these comments.
  • Academic advisors and other key support staff can see your comments for their assigned students.
  • Faculty will receive an email when the alert has been acted upon by staff members.
  • When you raise an alert, the student will receive an immediate email notification for each alert or kudo. These emails include any comments you entered. In all of the templates, instructors have an opportunity to outline details of the specific concern or praise in the comments section.

Raising an alert lets the student know directly about concerns, or praise for progress. Students are very responsive to kudos that let them know their efforts are recognized and appreciated. The earlier an alert is raised, the better chance that potential success barriers are addressed.
